This font was made for the Cartoonists United Letterer Challenge 2026! It corresponds to the fifth week's prompt, "Font Selfie."

CB Composition is a comic book font with a very handwritten scrawl! It gets its casualness from the fact that it's based on my own sloppy handwriting, studied from school notebooks.

There are the four regular styles: Regular, Italic, Bold, and Bold Italic. All styles use OpenType ligatures to vary how side-by-side doubled characters look, so the font looks more hand-written. Some letters even have triple consecutive ligatures. You can also swap out letters for their alternates at your own discretion, if you especially want to hide the fact that it's a font.

Also included are some special characters, like breath marks and manga glyphs. These should show up for relevant Unicode and emoji characters, but you can also type them with various sequences of letters, like {heart1} or {anger}. The tilde can chain together to make longer wavy marks.

CB Composition is licensed under the SIL Open Font License, which means you are free to use it anywhere (books, posters, logos, websites, etc.) with no fuss. You can read more about the license here: https://openfontlicense.org
